Niagara Falls

In addition to New York, I went see Niagara Falls. I checked about Niagara Falls in a book before I went there. The description of it made me excited. Then, I thought that it was impossible to see that kinds of Falls in Japan and I had to go see it.

My friends and I went there by the bus which was operated by Greyhound. It was hard to sleep because of jolting, but I was really looking forward to seeing Niagara Falls.

After around 8 hours, we were near the falls and were able to hear the sound like a rumbling of the ground which the falls made. It really startled me.
The more we approached the falls, the louder the sound was.

Finally, we made it. The falls was infront of us. It was just beautiful. We were like, "Oooooh!" I could not express my feeling with words then. They were much huger than I expected. Also, there was ice in the falls since it was still very cold. I was fascinated for a while.

As far as I know, Niagara Falls are most splendid falls in the world. I have had a good experience there. Seeing them is very worthwhile. Have you been there?

The Most Interesting Place

I had not blogged lately because I had Spring break...I have to keep blogging for my English!
I went to New York over Spring break. New York was the place that I wanted to visit by the time I left the United States. Finally I obtained the chance to go there with my friends, so I was very excited and I owed my parents about it.

I was wondering about New York before I visited. First of all, I thought it was like Tokyo, Japan. I imagined that there were lots of buildings, the people there walked fast, and New York was hectic. All I had thought about New York was exactly true. However, actually New York was beyond my ideas.

While my friends and I were walking around Manhattan, New York, I really felt New York. Then, I realized that New York had one totally different point from Tokyo. That is that there were various ethnic groups there. Surely I felt about a melting pot of races due to them. Therefore, There were many kinds of English in New York. What I am trying to say is that the people who speak English with various accents existed there. As a result, I did not have to care about my English that has a Japanese accent. I have been trying to fix it, but it is very difficult becasue my native language is Japanese. That many kinds of English existed made me more comfortable than I spoke English in Manhattan, Kansas. In Kansas, I am likely to be nervous and care about my accent when I speak English because most of the people around me are native English speakers. Though it is good for learning proper English, speaking English with various accents is usual in New York. My experience in New York was interesting and really influenced me.

About New York

New York is very busy. It reminds me about Tokyo. The style of buildings is very different, but people walk fast and are blunt. They are the same characteristics.
I was able to meet my friends after I got to New York, so I was glad about it. I am really enjoying New York so far. Needless to say, it is totally different from Manhattan, Kansas! Oh, yeah. We are staying in a hostel, and it is nicer than I expected. That is good!
We are going to go sightseeing tomorrow. Though I am not sure where to go, I will have fun anyway! Have a nice break!

New York!!!

Sorry for not blogging lately. I had been kind of busy...
By the way, what are you going to do during Spring break? I am going to go to New York! Have you been there? One of my Japanese friends will come to New York from Japan, and we will meet there! It is cool, isn't it?
I am looking forward to meeting him and staying in New York! Since visiting New York is one of my dreams in the United States, I am very excited!
Manhattan in New York is called Big apple, Manhattan in Kansas is called Little apple contrastingly. I had never known it until I came here. It is very interesting. Anyway, I have really enjoyed Little apple so far, so I would like to enjoy Big apple next! I swear to have fun there. I will not be able to help talking about New York if I meet you after I come back here! Have a nice break!

My Memorial Day

Today is my memorial day! I came to the United States just one year ago! Though one year has passed since I came here, I feel it is very fast. I have had lots of fun until now thanks to my awesome friends! I really appreciate that. When I came here a year ago, I was very nervous and uneasy because I was worried whether I was able to get used to American life and make good American friends. Actually, I could not understand what native English speakers said since it was very natural and fast. However, I have no such worries now. I am really enjoying my life in the United States.
Also, I need to talk about English. Learning foreign languages is tough as I have said many times. Sometimes I feel that I do not have a good talent to learn English because my English still sucks, but I have been making effort about English, so I hope I will be able to speak English fluently by the time I go back to Japan. In addition, it is very interesting that I can learn not only English but also American culture by hanging out with American friends. It has really influenced me; for example, I have started to express my own opinion without hesitation. American people tend to express their own opinion no matter how other people think. On the other hand, Japanese people are less likely to do that. I think that the American way is respectful; therefore, I would like to do so.
Living in the United States is very neat so far, and I would like to enjoy it more than now!

Boxing

I started to take a boxing class in February because I wanted to excercise. Also I belong to the Karate club; thus, I excercise every weekday! As to boxing, I really feel good when I hit a bag which consists of water. It is very good to ease stress. There are 10 people there, and they are very nice! On the basis of a instructor's saying, it is not good to learn boxing and martial arts at the same time bacause they are very different. I sometimes feel so. However, I cannot help learning both! I just want to do! Since I am really enjoying both, I am going to keep working on them.

Good Friends...?

George Bush and Jun-ichiro Koizumi

"Air Force One"

I watched the movie "Air Force One" two days ago. It is an action movie. The story is that the airplane that the American president was in is hijacked, but he fights against hijackers. Finally, he kills all of them and restore peace. After I finished watching the movie, I thought the story of the movie expressed American people symbolically because they like thier president and think he is a hero. When the American president, George Bush, came here to lecture at KSU, most of American students felt excited. However, I was not interested in him because I do not like his monkey face...Anyway, Japanese people do not care about thier prime minister. By the way, do you know the prime minister in Japan? It is Jun-ichiro Koizumi. Surprisingly, some of Japanese people do not know his name. Let's think about it. If he appears and fights against hijackers in a movie, it will be totally embarrassing. It is impossible because we do not have that kind of idea toward our premier. I hope nobody will make such a movie!

What Studying English Is

Studying English makes me find new things. One of them is that I have my native language accent when I speak other languages. When I was in Japan, I never realized that because I did not have an opportunity to talk with foreign people such as Chinese and korean except native English speaker, and there were always Japanese people around me. However, while I was studying English in the English Language program that international students were supposed to participate in to prepare for taking university's classes, I realized that I had my native language accent since each student who came from China, Korea, Czech, and Saudi Arebia was speaking English with his or her accent. It really impressed me because I had never realized the matter about accents before I started to study in the United States.
The more I study English, the more difficult English is. Even so, I would like to stick to it!

The Weather in Kansas...

It is too hot! Yeah, man. I know that the weather in Kansas is terrible. Though I do not think spring has already come, recent temperature makes me feel as if it came. I know, I know! It will get cold tomorrow... As you see, the weather often change extremely in Kansas, and it makes it hard to choose which clothes I should put on. That's a bummer. My friend told me that the weather often changed because there was no sea which kept temperature moderate around Kansas. When it comes to the weather, I miss Japan. I like Kansas, but I hate the weather...Oh, dear!
