Pretty neat!

A car show

Yesterday my friend, Ryan, took me to the car show in Fort Riley, which is a United States Army post located in Manhattan. Yeah he is joining the army now, so I was very looking ofrward to the army post. As to the car show, there were not so many cars there, but I was very mpressed because one car was huge and eqipped a cool sound system. It was neat, and I had never seen such a car in Japan.
Also, he showed me around Fort Riley, and I saw some tanks that used to work in real wars, such as the Vietnam War and the Second World War. Though they looked very cool, I felt a little bit scared since I thought that they were able to kill many people easily. The above picture is one of the tanks with me.

Today's class

Today I had the last Geography class in this summer, and tomorrow I have the final exam of that. The class was very interesting, so I learned a lot. I think it was my great call to take this class. Anyways, today's class was about Japan. The interesting thing that I learned today is, Japan imports the beef of cows in Kansas. It was news to me! Yeah, Kansas is a very farmy state and smells cows. So the point is, I can eat Kansas beef even after I go back to Japan! Indeed, that's awesome!

National Flags

Today I learned about China. In the geography class, a professor showed me some pictures of China, and I realized one interesting thing. That is, there were the buildings flown the national flag in the pictures. Also, I have the same sight in the United States. In Japan, some people fly the national flag on national holidays. However, if someone flies it on ordinary days, we think they must be right-wingers. Therefore, we do not often see our national flag. That is the interesting difference between Japan and the other countries.

India

This is a quick post...Do you know how many official languages there are in India? The answer is 17 languages. How horrible that is! If I had been born there, I would have been smart, maybe. The national languages in India are Hindi and English. So I see how speaking English is important in the world!

What is My Future Job?

Yeah Kansas has hot temperature...now I see! I have been dealing with it barely.
Anyway, these days I have been wondering about what job to get after going back to Japan. Though I do not have any specific ideas, I think I want to use English in my job. It is my current idea. There are multiple international companies in Japan, so I will find my ideal job, but it depends on my effort.
In Japan, once we start to work for a company, we become very busy and do not have enough time to enjoy our life. The point is, we tend to work too much. On the other hand, Americans enjoy thier life while working and look very young for their age. I envy them at that point. Since I am going to live in Japan, I have to follow the Japanese way, but I will try to enjoy both my work and life!

Marine Day

Today July 17th is Marine day in Japan! It is a national holiday, so most of the Japanese people enojoyed three continuous holidays. I said "enjoyed" since it is July 18th in Japan now. Does Marine day sound odd to you? Yeah, I agree with you! The reason that the day was made is there were no national holidays in July. Therefore, there is no origin of Marine day and I guess Japanese government decided the name of the day is just because July is during summer when people enjoy going to beaches. Hahaha.

Frisbee

Today I hung out with my friend, Brett. We played Frisbee golf, and it was very fun. The temperature was exteremely high (105 degree), but we still enjoyed it. Frisbee golf is like ordinary golf, so golf balls are just change for Frisbees. Interestingly, there are the courses to play with a Frisbee inside the campus. Today I did a good job since I was lucky. I want to do again sometime on a cool day.
As to the Frisbee, my friend, Shawn, told me that he played with the Frisbee, his father instead of playing catch when he was a child . On the other hand, when I was a kid, I often played catch with my father, and I rarely played with the Frisbee. I think that it is a very common thing in Japan. Therefore, the difference is intriguing for me!

The Geograohy class

Studying Geography is very interesting because I feel as if I visited various countries when I watch videos and see many pictures. The professor in the class make studying Geography fun; for example, he shows videos. I am really enjoying that, so I think that I should have take Geography classes earlier. I could not imagine how interesting they were then. Anyhow, I am so looking forward to the next class!(~_~)

Americans

When Americans who cannot speak Japanese visit Japan, they speak English to ordinary Japanese people who do not know English without the least hesitation.
How nice SUCH AMERICANS are!!!!

The exam of the Geography class

Yesterday I had the exam in the Geograohy class. The questions on the exam were very straightforward, so I thought I did well. I got the result today, and it was good. That was a relief! When I was memorizing various European countries for the exam, I realized something interesting. That was, I found where various European countries appeared in the World Cup soccer were located. There were many European countries appeared in the World Cup, so it was fun to find the countries' names that I had known because of that. Therefore, I am really enjoying Geography now!

Congrats!

The final game!

Italy won! Italy has become the champion in World Cup 2006. The final game was extremely exciting. I wnat to say it is my best game in this tournament. France was as good as Italy, but I guess Italy had luck today.I like Italy better than France, so I am satisfied with the result.
World Cup is over...I am very sad because I was really enjoying the fantastic skills that many players showed me. The next World Cup will take place after 4 years from now. I cannot imagine what I will be. Definitely I will be working for a company then. Anyhow, I am so looking forward to the next one. I hope that Japan team will be better than now then!

Germany vs Portugal

World Cup 2006

Germany won! Today the third place game in World Cup took place. My friends, John, Andrew, and I watched the game together in John's grandpa's home. His house is very big and spacious, so it is an exact American house. Anyhow, the game was very exciting, so I really enjoyed it. When I visited Japan this summer, I watched many games in World Cup. Not to mention, I am a big fun of soccer! But there was a problem. The games broadcasted late at night. If I was not on vacation, I could not have watched them. On the other hand, I can watch the games in the afternoon here, so I am very glad about it! Tomorrow the final game will take place. I think that France will win, but I like Italy too. I am sure that the game will be most exciting in World Cup. Anyway, we cannot miss it!

Karate Practice

I had Karate practice today. I did not do Karate for a long time because I was in Japan, so I realized that I forgot some things. No sweat! I will remember them little by little! I have to go over what I had learned so far. Also, it was nice weather today, and I really enjoyed moderate temperature. It was a good day.

A Temperature Difference

I feel very cold when I am inside almost all of buildings in the USA, such as classrooms and restaurants. On the other hand, the outside is extremely hot. I am very uncomfortable about such a terrible temperature difference. American people make an AC work too much, so I almost freeze in the buildings. I do not see why it always happens. Are American people very sensitive to the heat? It is a mystery. Anyway, I am thinking I will bring a long-sleeved cloth to my classroom!

Fireworks!

Independence Day

Today July 4th is Independence day! American people set off fireworks to celebrate the day. In Japan, there are fireworks during this season. I thought that Japanese fireworks were most beautiful, but American ones were as nice as them. I really enjoyed fireworks tonight.

My Vacation is Over

My class started today. A professor looked nice and I thought that the class would be interesting. I am taking "World Regional Geography" this summer since I am interested in other countries. In the class, there were 30 people, and I was surprised at it because I did not expect that many people were taking the class.

I would like to talk about my vacation in Japan. I have good time every time I visit my country because I can meet my girlfriend, family, and friends. They really make me relaxed, and I also enjoy Japanese food. Needless to say, I ate Sushi and "Ramen (noodle)" in this time. I have already missed them...I had great time in Japan.

I guess I have to mention that my girlfriend came here. Though she is busy working, she was able to obtain some days off for trip, so she decided to come here. Manhattan is very countryside, but she loved it since she likes places laid-back. Also, my friend, Shawn, showed us around Manhattan by his car. Obviously she had good time and fun thanks to that. I really appreciate his kindness. I hope that she will come here again someday!

That my vacation is over means that I have only 6 months until I go back to Japan. Therefore, I will try to learn more English and American culture much harder not to regret later. I swear to do my best everyday!!!
