I am taking "Linguistic Anthropology" this semester. In the class, I made a new friend. His name is Craig, and his major is math. When I had to get a conversation partner to complete some assignments, I met him. At first, I thought he was quiet, but actually he is a talkative and funny man. Today we went bowling in the union. Honestly, I am into bowling. Anyway, it was fun. I would like to be not a conversation partner but a friend with him. As to the class, it is very interesting because I can learn various accents and pronunciations. There were some pronunciations which I had never known in the world. It impressed me. I hope I will enjoy that class.

Archery club 2
I participated in an archery club's practice this evening. One of instructors, Tom, taught me how to shoot more specifically than last time. It was sort of more difficult than I thought, but I will get used to it. In the practice, first we usually shoot three times. After that, we pull out arrows and prepare next shoots. We repeat this sequence. It takes an hour to finish the practice. Since I was able to make friends in the archery club, I want to continue to join it!

Last Night's Dream
I had an interesting dream last night. My friend, Shawn, appeared in my dream and spoke Japanese. Since he is studying and can speak Japanese, it was not surprising. However, I spoke English! It was surprising! Shawn and I went to a sushi restaurant, and I spoke English for some reason. It is good for me because it shows that I am learning English. I have had some dreams that I spoke English since I started to live in the United States. I hope I will be able to speak English more fluently!

English Names
It is very difficult to remember English names; for instance, Bryan, Misty, Tyler, Andrew, Hilary and so on. Needless to say, those are very different from Japanese name. I have to make an effort to remember them. Thus, I tend to forget people's names when I meet them the first time. However, Naomi is easy to remember because it sounds like a Japanese name. We are familiar with some names; for example, Mike, Tom, Mary. This is becasue they often appear in English textbooks. Is it easy for Japanese to remember your name?

Archery!
After I took some classes, I visited an archery club. Every time a new semester begins, I try a new thing. It is a good way for me to maintain motivation. Though I was not sure where the place was, I managed to find it. There were about 10 people there. An instructor taught me how to shoot very nicely. I was very glad about it. Although it was difficult to shoot correctly, I would like to go to the practice again. Additionally, I am planning to belong to that club.

Bowling!
I went bowling this morning with my friends. When I was in Japan, I did not go bowling a lot, but I have bowled many times in the United States. I am not very good at it; on the other hand, my friends are very good. However, I got 166 scores today by chance. It was amazing for me. Though I had to wake up early today, bowling was very fun!

American People
After taking a class, I hung out with my American friends today. I made a Japanese food ' Katsu don' for them. It went very well. I could not believe that because I put some seasonings by intuition. It was amazing. After that, we chatted about various matters. I realized an interesting thing then. When American people talk each other, it looks like they are arguing or quarreling for me because they speak their own opinion strongly. As you see, Japanese people are unlikely to do that. The difference in culture is very interesting.

George Bush!
I could not believe my eyes when I got an e-mail that said " President George Bush will come to KSU." KSU has the event that famous people come and lecture regularly. But even so, why will he come here? I did not know KSU was such a famous university. Although I would like to go, I have a class then unfortunately! I wish I could go see him for my experience.

' Human Development'
I started taking ' Human Development' today. The professor is my friend mom. When my friend introduced her to me in a church, she was very friendly. She is very nice and hilarious! Needless to say, my friend, Shawn, also is nice. His mom, Kelly, can not stop talking....Anyway, I really like that class and the professor. If I have a problem, I can count on my friend because he is a TA in the class. Thank you for your assistance. I swear to make a lot of efforts toward the class to obtain a good grade!

Why Japan?
Yesterday I hung out with one of my American friends. He then said to me, " I am going to go to Japan from March as a exchange student." I was very surprised at it. He is studying Japanese at KSU and he had been up for going to Japan to learn Japanese. He finally realized his wish. I hope he will enjoy Japan and improve his Japanese. I have some American friends who are studying Japanese. Why is Japan very attractive to them? It is much smaller than the United States and Japanese is not global language. One of my friends told me that Japan had an interesting culture and a long history. Since I was born in Japan, I do not feel like that. However, I am sure that studying foreign language is very very very exciting! Anyway, I want to say, "Good luck!"

Memoirs of a Geisha
Today I spent a time with my friend. We went to the movie theater and watched 'Memoirs of a Geisha.' Since it was a new movie, I was looking forward to watching it. Actually I enjoyed it. As to the movie, it is about Geisha in Japan and has a love story. Ken Watanabe is one of main characters. Some famous Japanese actors and actresses appear in the movie. I was very surprised that they could speak English well. It was news to me. Looks like they are better than I. I have to make more efforts! Anyways, since 'Memoirs of a Geisha' is a good movie, I recommend watching it. ASAP!

JET LAG
I have been suffering from jet lag these days. I have never experienced that kind of things. I think I will get over it soon. Today the class 'ENGL 100' started. Looks like it will not be difficult for me because the professor looks very kind and I like writing. In any case, since the good writing ability is necessary for me, I will do my best!
