Chinese Quiz

Today I had a Chinese quiz, and I think that I did it well. The quiz was very straightforward, so it is really helpful for students! Also since there are the same characters in Japanese, I have advantage when studying Chinese! Clearly, American students are struggling to memorize Chinese characters, but I am not. Right now I am really glad that I was born as a Japanese.

Results

Today I got the results of two Chinese presentations. My Chinese teacher gave me A for both of them somehow. I guess that I am taking the lowest Chinese class, so they should give students nice grades to be confident. Yeah, thanks! Honestly, I am interested in not Chinese culture but the language Chinese. I am learning Chinese just for my future job because I want to work globally! Anyways, I will do my best!

Last Week

I had an exam and a Chinese presentation last week. I have not got the result of the exam yet, and the presentation was okay. My chinese teacher said to me, " Speak with confident!" Wow... I have been told the same thing by a English teacher... oh man. Being confident is my theme! Anyways, I have no exams this week, but there will be an assignment in a class. Have a nice week~!

Real Ichiro

Guess what! I saw "real" Ichiro! Hey do you know Ichiro? I do not want you to say no. He is a famous major league Japanese baseball player!

Last night some Chi Alpha people and I went watch a beseball game in Kansas City. I had been thinking that I wanted to see Ichiro in the USA since I came here. Every single Japanese people knows Ichiro, and I respect him because he has made lots of efforts enough to be very good. then when I asked Chi Alpha people if they could take me to a stadium, they were glad to accept my offering. I was so excited!

It took about 2 hours to get to the stadium, which the major league baseball team, Kansas City Royals, owns. Also we went by the Japanese restaurant called "Gojo" on the way. I am not sure that whatI had there is Japanese food, but rice was made in Japan anyway.

The baseball game was really entertaining! Kansas City Royals scored 4 points in the first inning, so I was really disappointed at first, but Mariners, which the beseball team Ichiro belongs to, won in the end.

Speaking of Ichiro, when I first saw him, I was really impressed and thougt that he was moving as I watched on TV. What was interesting is, I taught some Japanese to Chi Alpha people and let them shout when Ichiro came up; for example, "Ute!" (make a hit), "Ganbare!" (do your best) and so on. I guess that nobody was able to understand what we were shouting. Also we stood up and bowed to Ichiro when he had a nice play. That was hilarious!!! I could not stop laughing!!! I had never seen such people even in Japan! I really love Chi Alpha people!

I really had fun last night. My dream came true, so I am ready to go back to Japan! I am kidding! Anyways, thank you very much for driving, Bryan.

Pretty Fireworks!

The Presentation in Chinese Tomorrow

How hard Chinese is! I am saying about speaking! I have to make the presentation about myself in Chinese tomorrow in class. I am pretty sure I will be nervous because I will do in front of students. So I will be like... Don't stare at me!!!
What is interesting is, I think that there is always a problem when Japanese people try to learn other languages. That is pronunciation. I strongly see that Japanese is easy to pronunce for every single person who is not Japanese! Chinese pronunciation is similar to English one, so Chinese people do not get in trouble with it. Also the grammer between them is almost the same! I envy Chinese people!
Anyhow, I wish myself luck on tomorrow's presentaion!

these are real "Okonomiyaki"!

Another Japanese Food

Yesterday I fixed another Japanese food for my friends! What I was trying to make was "Okonomiyaki", which was a pan-fried batter cake with various ingredients. There are a couple kinds of "Okonomiyaki". Specifically, there are the Hiroshima, Osaka, and Tokyo (normal) one in Japan. The big differences are their shape and some ingredients, so I would say that they have almost the same taste.
Speaking of the "Okonomiyaki" that I made last night, it was very different from any kinds of "Okonomiyaki" that I mentioned above and what I thought before I started to fix. Yeah, clearly I failed! However, interestingly it tasted good somehow, and Shawn told me that it was "Tomo's Okonomiyaki". Thanks, man. Next time I will try to make it carefully!

Labor Day

Today is a holiday because the first Monday in September is Labor Day. Anyway, what is "Labor Day"? The website Wikipedia says, "Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country." So we are supposed to thank American workers today!

Today I hung out with my friend, John. We played Ping-Pong and a game, and had a chat, so we had fun. Amusingly, he yawned a lot today (once every 5 minutes! haha) since he stayed up late last night. Take care of yourself!

Speaking of John, he is going to Poland to study abroad and leaving in September 16th. That is sad for me because we hang out a lot and are good friends, so I will miss him. However, since he really likes other cultures (That is why he hangs out a lot with me!), he will definitely enjoy studying abroad. I wish him luck!

Hanging Out Today

Today my friend and I went bowling in K-State union. It had been a long time, so I was really bad. Today's score was 120! Yeah, though I wass taking a bowling class last semester, it was useless and I completely forgot it. After that, we played billiards, and it was good. Clearly, I prefer it to bowling!
